The Lobbrary
Artifacts of a Gen X life spent collecting, each one with a story of what it is, where it came from and why it matters.
Before the internet made everything immediately accessible, a single reference was enough to send you on a quest. You heard Andy Warhol’s name in a Bowie song and looked him up wherever you could: in the library, on a magazine rack, a record sleeve or a friend’s house, and suddenly you were assembling your own composite Warhol, a construct from whatever physical flotsam happened to float your way. We didn’t collect for nostalgia (yet) and there was no investment plan. We collected from desire, desperation and curiosity pent up with no place to go. The Lobbrary is evidence of a life spent seeking pop culture people, places and things wherever they led.
